About the event
American poet Jack Spicer once wrote how a poet is like a radio receiving transmissions, "a host being invaded by the parasite of the dictating source of the poem". Our next Massolit Presents event will have two poets - one American, one Polish - who are examples par excellence of writers receiving transmissions from the white noise of life.
DAWID MATEUSZ is a Polish poet who published his first collection of poems, Stacja wieży ciśnień [Water Tower Station] in 2016, which won Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna Prize for best poetic debut of the year. The book was also nominated for the 2017 Gdynia Literary Prize for best poetry collection. He lives in Krakow.
MARK TARDI is originally from Chicago, IL and he earned his MFA from Brown University. His publications include the books The Circus of Trust, out from Dalkey Archive Press in 2017, Airport music, and Euclid Shudders. He guest-edited an issue of the literary journal Aufgabe devoted to contemporary Polish poetry and poetics and has translated poetry from the Polish by Kacper Bartczak, Miron Białoszewski, Monika Mosiewicz, and Przemysław Owczarek.
